10,000 tourists visited Abkhazia during the Christmas holidays

From 1 to 10 of January Abkhazia was visited by about 10 000 tourists, which is 30% less than the same period last year.

According to Deputy Minister of Resorts and Tourism of the Republic of Abkhazia Astamur Akhba, most of the guests visiting our country in the winter came with one-day visit as tourists. These are individual tourists and organized bus tours. According to him, in comparison to the previous year, the number of tourists decreased by 30%. In 2015, during the same period the republic was visited by about 13,000 visitors. "10 thousand is not a bad figure for our country. We expected a greater number of guests, but due to weather conditions, some tours were canceled. For example, the road to Ritsa was blocked, and one can get there only by all-terrain vehicles", - noted Akhba.

 As a result, Ritsa Relic National Park from 1 to of 10 January this year was attended by 3,652 tourists, but for the same period last year - 5450, New Athos Cave - 6983, in 2015 there were - 8899.
