The head of state asks his compatriots to show patience, to think about the health of the elders, the most vulnerable in a pandemic, to support doctors who are on the front line in the fight against this dangerous disease.
The text of the appeal reads:
"Dear compatriots!
I am addressing to you in connection with the worsening of epidemiological situation.
The country's leadership is aware of the complexity of the situation. We understand the situation in which citizens find themselves due to the closure of the state border. But we proceed from the fact that the state cannot have higher values than the life and health of citizens.
It is impossible to open the state border with the Russian Federation unilaterally. The leadership of Abkhazia is in constant contact with the Russian side to work out the safest solution for the life and health of citizens of both countries. This solution will be found in the near future. The leadership of Abkhazia is taking measures to minimize the consequences of the epidemic for citizens. I have personal control over the solution of all issues related to protecting the population from coronavirus. There have been more difficult times in our history. But the people of Abkhazia showed wisdom, endurance and got out of the most difficult situations with dignity. I am sure it will be so this time too. I ask you, dear compatriots, to show patience. We should think about the health of our elders, the most vulnerable in a pandemic, and support our doctors who are on the front lines in the fight against this dangerous disease.
Dear friends! Please be patient! The main thing is to preserve the life and health of citizens! This is above all! We will undoubtedly resolve issues of economic and other nature by joining efforts!
