36th meeting of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) took place in Gal

The main topic of the meeting was the incident that occurred on the Abkhaz-Georgian border on May 19, 2016.

Sukhum. May 27. Apsnypress. The basic document IPRM was adopted in 2009 at the Geneva discussions by consensus, but in 2012 due to disagreements, Gali mechanism was suspended.
 
 At the last 35th round of the Geneva discussions, March 23, 2016 as a result of intensive negotiations between the Abkhaz and Georgian sides there was reached an agreement on the resumption of the IPRM.
 
 In the first for 4 years five-sided (Abkhazia, Georgia, Russia, the UN and the EU) meeting in the framework of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) the main theme has become the incident that occurred on the Abkhaz-Georgian border, May 19, 2016. The Georgian side handed the participants of the meeting the investigation and incident recording materials. In general, the meeting was held in a constructive atmosphere. The parties agreed on the need to continue the work of the IPRM format. There was reached an agreement to hold the next meeting of the IPRM in Gal on 6 July, 2016.
