A group of citizens ask the president to prevent the entry into force the changes in the law "On Civil Status"

On February 25, 2015 the People's Assembly of the Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia in the final reading was adopted the RA Law "On Amendments to the Law "On Civil Status". In this regard, a group of citizens appealed to the President with the statement.

"On February 25, 2015 the People's Assembly of the Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia in the final reading adopted the RA Law" On Amendments to the Law "On Civil Status".

In addition to various updates and additions to some articles of the document focuses on the issue of "restoration" of the Abkhazian names and nationality, thereby acquiring citizenship of the Republic of Abkhazia, Gali residents and other districts of Abkhazia, "residing in the territory of Abkhazia at least 5 years".

Currently live in Abkhazia tens of thousands of so-called former Abkhaz and the border with Abkhazia regions of Georgia, their number exceeds 100 thousand people. After the entry into force of this document, the number of ethnic Georgians who are citizens of Georgia, and have the potential to become citizens of Abkhazia, will exceed the number of state-forming nation - Abkhazians.

In other words, we are talking about the fact that the decision of Members of Parliament can serve as a continuation of the policy of the previous government, aimed at extending the jurisdiction of Georgia on the territory of Abkhazia. This well-known events of 2009, resulting from the amendments to the "Law on Citizenship", and certification processes illegal Georgian citizens, mostly uncontrolled penetrated into the territory of Abkhazia, led 27 May 2014 to the People's Assembly and the resignation of the President of the Republic of Abkhazia.

It seems that the majority of the members who voted for these changes, do not see the overall threat that is coming to the Abkhazian people and Abkhazian statehood in the case of the entry into force of this document, which among other things is obviously the following:
1. Legalization and affirmation of the right of residence in the territory of Abkhazia uncontrollably penetrated tens of thousands of citizens of Georgia;
2. The distribution of the jurisdiction of Georgia on the territory of Abkhazia;
3. Undermining the constitutional order of the Republic of Abkhazia;
4. Assimilation of Abkhazia within the Georgian ethnos;
5. Elimination of the Abkhazian state.

However, the amendments to the law can be used by Georgia and NATO backers for the nomination against Abkhazia have substantiated allegations of human rights violations and artificial assimilation of Georgian citizens.

We, the undersigned, call on the people of Abkhazia, as the source of all power in the country and the President, as the guarantor of the Constitution, to prevent the entry into force of the above changes to the law "On Civil Status" because existing legislation on this issue already more than liberal".
