The lethal outcome came from complications caused by COVID-19, and multiple concomitant chronic diseases.
Sukhum. April 26. Apsnypress. According to the Coronavirus Infection Control Headquarters, a 1925-year-old patient in Gudauta Hospital died early in the morning of April 26 from complications from COVID-19 and multiple concomitant chronic diseases.
The report states that the diagnosis of COVID-19 was made on April 11, but the patient refused hospitalization for more than a week, giving consent to it only on April 20 after a significant deterioration.
According to chief therapist of the Ministry of Health of Abkhazia, Anzhela Archeliya, at the time of admission to Gudauta hospital, a 95-year-old patient was diagnosed with bilateral polysegmental pneumonia, together with concomitant diseases - pronounced hypertension, chronic renal failure. Against the background of the therapy, the patient achieved x-ray improvement, however, the general condition constantly remained difficult, which was complicated by old age.
Anzhela Archeliya emphasizes that the patient received all the necessary medical care, including the prevention of thromboembolic complications characteristic of the course of coronavirus infection, as provided for by the WHO protocols. But at 7:00 in the morning, on April 26, she died of complications, in particular, pulmonary embolism. “Doctors did everything necessary, but, unfortunately, due to age, she could not cope with the disease,” said Anzhela Archeliya.
