Sukhum. October 24. Apsnypress. Lana Tsvizhba. Opening the meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia Daur Kove expressed satisfaction with the work of co-chairs of the Geneva discussions on security and stability in the South Caucasus, who make every effort to ensure that participants and parties of the conflict could achieve some positive results.
"Today's meeting is devoted to discussion of the upcoming agenda of 38th round of the Geneva discussions. I think that the work will be fruitful and we will discuss a wide range of issues", - Kove said.
In turn, co-chairman of the Geneva discussions from the EU, the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Herbert Salber stressed that Geneva is an important platform. "We have seen that this year the security in the region has been relatively stable. This is probably due to the fact that 4 times a year in Geneva, in addition, within the framework of the IPRM we have the opportunity to talk about the incidents and take measures to avoid them", - Salber said. At the same time, he stressed that there are projects to work on. "I mean the issue of agreement on the nonuse of force between Abkhazia and Georgia", - said Salber.
According to Herbert Salber, "in the last two or three sessions in Geneva, the participants showed great interest, and there is a possibility of settlement of the conflict".
At the same time co-chair of the Geneva discussions from the UN, the representative of UN Secretary General on the International Geneva discussions Antti Turunen noted that the working mood in Geneva discussions has improved. "Now we can discuss more specific questions. I would like to note that the same pragmatic working mood is present at the meetings of the IPRM", - Turunen said.
