Ceremony of laying flowers to the memorial to fallen soldiers in the Park of Glory was held in Sukhum.
Sukhum. August 26. Apsnypress. Flowers and wreaths to the Memorial of Glory laid President Raul Khadjimba, Vice-President Vitaly Gabniya, Prime Minister Artur Mikvabia, Speaker of the Parliament Valery Bganba, deputies, members of the government, the public.
President Raul Khadjimba congratulated all residents of Abkhazia on the holiday and wished peace and prosperity.
"Sure, it was a great event. The recognition has enabled us to become more confident, self-reliant. The country has received financial support to develop its economy. Not as bad as sometimes we imagine, but there are many things that you should do as soon as possible. The recognition of our independence by the Russian Federation requires appropriate steps. We have to show our main strategic partners that we know how to live, know how to build a state"- said the President.
"It is a common holiday for South Ossetia and Abkhazia. We remember how much fun it was seven years ago. We'd walked to this day for a long time and suffered it with heavy losses. No matter how much time has passed, this date will be written with golden letters in the recent history of South Ossetia and Abkhazia ", - said the Ambassador of South Ossetia in Abkhazia Oleg Botsiev.
Prime Minister Artur Mikvabia also congratulated the people of Abkhazia. "This is a very important day for us. Many people gave their lives to make it happen. The independence of Abkhazia was a dream of many generations and, of course, today I feel a sense of pride", - said the prime minister.
Then was laying flowers at the memorial to the First President Vladislav Ardzinba in Eshera.
The ceremony continues at the grave of President Sergey Bagapsh in Dzhgerda.
And in the evening residents and visitors of Abkhazia will be able to visit a concert in the Abkhazian State Philharmonic of R. Gumba.
