Comment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia.

Sukhum. August 6. Apsnнpress. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia with indignation received the appeal of the Football Federation of Georgia to FIFA with a demand to condemn the football match between the youth teams of Nigeria and Abkhazia.
 
 "This and many other cases confirm that the policy of Georgia towards Abkhazia has not changed and continues to be based on outdated stereotypes and the desire to isolate Abkhazia from the outside world," - the Abkhaz Foreign Ministry said. 
  
 RA MFA considers the desire of the Georgian side to limit by any means the participation of Abkhaz athletes in international competitions as evidence of the continuation of the policy of isolation, which "in practice proves what the statements of Georgian politicians on adherence to constructive dialogue and openness are about."  

 In addition, the Abkhaz Foreign Ministry's commentary says: "The Abkhaz side calls on the FIFA Ethics Committee to assess the actions of the Georgian side and to clarify whether the activities of the FFG of Georgia, which amounts to" using all means to prevent sports actions directed against Georgian statehood and territorial integrity " , the key concepts of non-interference of politics in football. We are convinced that despite the attempts of the Football Federation of Georgia to impart a political connotation to the holding of sporting events, FIFA will continue the course aimed at the full support and development of football. "
