Address by President Raul Khadzhimba in connection with the 27th anniversary of the beginning of the Patriotic War of the people of Abkhazia

On August 14, 1992, troops of the State Council of Georgia entered Abkhazia. The Patriotic War of the people of Abkhazia began, it lasted 413 days and ended on September 30 with the victory of the people of Abkhazia.

 “Dear compatriots! Dear veterans!
 
 Today is the 27th anniversary of the beginning of the War of Abkhazia. On this mournful day, we pay tribute to defenders of the Fatherland, who have laid down their heads for the freedom of their native land.
 
 The feat of the sons and daughters of Apsny, volunteers who came to our aid, will forever remain in the memory of the people.
 
 On this day, we also honor the memory of our first President, Commander-in-Chief Vladislav Ardzinba, who assumed tremendous responsibility for the fate of the country. It is difficult to overestimate the role of Vladislav Ardzinba.
 
 The memory of the war and the victims of our people, respect for the heroism of the heroes who defended their native land from enemy aggression, are the most important foundations of a stable and secure state.
 
Eternal memory to the fallen soldiers! Peace and prosperity to the people of Apsny! ”- the address of the President says.
