Address by Raul Khajimba in connection with mutual recognition and establishment of diplomatic relations between Abkhazia and the Syrian Arab Republic

The Syrian Arab Republic recognized the Republic of Abkhazia.

Sukhum. May 29. Apsnypress. President of Abkhazia Raul Khajimba made an appeal in connection with mutual recognition and establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Syrian Arab Republic during his working visit to Moscow at the Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Russian Federation.

 The appeal, in particular, says:

 "On May 29, 2018, the Republic of Abkhazia and the Syrian Arab Republic announced the mutual recognition and establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries at the embassy level, reflecting their common desire to develop relations in all areas.

 This event was preceded by a large work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, the Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Russian Federation, and other departments of the Republic of Abkhazia. There took place mutual trips of Abkhazian and Syrian officials, close contacts established.

A tripartite meeting of ambassadors of the Republic of Abkhazia, the Syrian Arab Republic and the Republic of South Ossetia to the Russian Federation was held yesterday, on May 28, during which the ambassadors agreed on the text and date of the release of the communiqué, exchanged relevant notes.
 
 We highly appreciate this step of the leadership of the Syrian Arab Republic and are confident that our relations will develop in the spirit of mutual respect and cooperation. I am sure that in the near future peace will come to the Syrian land, and its people will start a peaceful life. "
