Agreement between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation on alliance and strategic partnership has entered into force

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation held a ceremony of exchange of instruments of ratification of the Treaty between Abkhazia and Russia on the alliance and strategic partnership.

On the Abkhaz side in a ceremony attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Russian Federation Igor Akhba, with the Russian - Secretary of State, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Grigoriy Karasin.

According to Article 22 of the Treaty, it "shall be subject to ratification and shall enter into force on the date of exchange of instruments of ratification". Thus, the Treaty between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation on the alliance and strategic partnership has entered into force today, on March 5, 2015
Recall that the Treaty between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation on the alliance and strategic partnership was signed by the President of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation on 24 November 2014.

On December 22, 2014 the Treaty was ratified by the National Assembly, Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia, and on December 26, 2014 the President of the Republic of Abkhazia signed a law on ratification.

On January 23, 2015 Agreement ratified by the State Duma of the Russian Federation, and On January 28, 2015 - The Council of the Federation. On February 4, 2015 the President of the Russian Federation signed the Federal Law "On Ratification of the Treaty between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Abkhazia on alliance and strategic partnership".
