Alexander Vataman: "Until we have a common history, the relationship between Transnistria and Abkhazia will develop"

A working meeting of the President of the Republic of Abkhazia Raul Khadjimba with Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Dnestr Moldavian Republic Alexander Vataman.

Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia informed the President about the plans for the organization of a series of commemorative events that will take place in Transnistria in 2015. This - the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Transnistrian Moldovan Republic, as well as the cycle of celebratory events in May to mark the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

In addition, Alexander Vataman presented to the President a report on the activities of representation for the year and the action plan for 2015.

According to him, foreign policy and economic situation in the Dnestr Moldavian Republic remains difficult. Due to the events in Ukraine economic contacts (and it exports to Abkhazia of metal, textile production) in 2014 almost not carried out. But continued inter-agency cooperation: customs, banking, cooperation in the field of defense, as well as contacts in the field of culture and education.

"Today the country is located in the besieged ring. The citizens of the Russian Federation are not allowed to come to the territory of Transdniestria through Ukraine, there are restrictions on the importation of goods. The only gateway to the country - is Chisinau Airport. But even there, the Moldovan authorities limit the enter of the Russians, especially, for those who take a proactive stance towards Transnistria. Thus, turnover shrinking budget deficit TMR becomes even more scarce. The government had to take a number of unpopular measures for the recovery of the economy: reduce various benefits, raising prices for socially important goods. So, the overall situation is complicated. Therefore, the support, the example of Abkhazia are particularly valuable!"- said Alexander Vataman.

"I think that whatever difficulties we have our country must bridge positions in many areas. There are more than 20 agreements to promote the development of bilateral relations between our Republics. We would like to see those obstacles that are created artificially separate the authorities of Ukraine and Moldova, would wear a temporary nature", - said the RA President Raul Khadjimba.

"As long as we have a common history, as there are such dates as the 70 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, relations between Transnistria and Abkhazia will develop", - said Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia in the PMR Alexander Vataman.
