Chirikba about the Geneva discussions: It is the most important international format where Abkhazia participates on an equal terms with the leading players in world politics

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia in anticipation of XXXIV round of Geneva discussions on security and stability in the South Caucasus met with the co-chairmen of the debates from the UN, EU and OSCE.

"This is a major international format where Abkhazia participates on an equal terms with the leading players in world politics. We appreciate it and use this opportunity as effectively as it possible", - said Vyacheslav Chirikba.

Minister noted that the main task - to come to an agreement on nonuse of force, but in addition, within the framework of the Geneva discussions to successfully address important topics : issues of security of border regions, the search for missing persons during the war of Abkhazia, a great program for Cultural Heritage, in which are a number of important archival documents and environmental problems.

«We have a lot of problems that we can discuss, and we look with optimism on the next meeting in Geneva in early December ", - said Chirikba.

Co-chairman of the Geneva discussions on the EU Herbert Salber noted that the co-chairs are also optimistic for the upcoming round of discussions and appreciated the late rounds, as successful. "We believe that we will be able to achieve concrete results in Geneva. It is not easy, some topics are very sensitive, but that's why we are gathering", - said the diplomat.

In turn, co-chairman of the OSCE Angelo Gnaedinger said that he was satisfied with the way the talks are moving at the Geneva discussions:" In my opinion, the work becomes more efficient". Gnaedinger noted, that the area of ​​the Geneva discussions makes possible not only to discuss the issues on the agenda, but also such specific topics, as the situation with boxwood.

XXXIV round of Geneva talks will be held in early December in Switzerland.
