Chirikba: the recognition of Abkhazia by Georgia is beneficial for the whole region

Abkhazia will continue the political dialogue with Georgia, not enticing about the close breakthrough, said the foreign minister of Abkhazia, Vyacheslav Chirikba.

The recognition of Abkhazia by Georgia, as well as the establishment of full-fledged interstate relations should be the final decision, which will benefit all parties, it will benefit the whole region, said Minister of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia Viacheslav Chirikba.
 
 The authorities of Georgia on August 14 1992 launched an armed aggression against Abkhazia, the conflict lasted 13 months and 13 days. As the result, Georgia lost control over Abkhazia. In August 2008, Abkhazia and South Ossetia declared their independence, it was made after the Georgian military aggression against Tskhinvali. Now Georgia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia meet regularly in the framework of the Geneva discussions, which are held from October 2008. At the same time Tbilisi refuses to recognize the independence of the republics.
 
 "We are deeply convinced that the recognition of Abkhazia by Georgia and the establishment of full-fledged interstate relations is the ultimate solution of the Abkhazian issue for Georgia itself and for the region as a whole, and as a result will benefit all parties", - said Chirikba.
 
 He believes that "achievement of this requires a very high degree of political wisdom and power, alas, the current Georgian leadership do not posses them".
 
 "Therefore, we will continue the political dialogue with Georgia, not enticing about close breakthrough, and at the same time to work on all the other areas of foreign policy - a comprehensive strengthening of alliances and partnerships with Russia and with other friendly countries, establishing new contacts , reaching a broad international recognition", - the diplomat added.
 
 According to him, now it is extremely important for Abkhazia to achieve substantial progress in the economy.
 
 "Reaching the real external sovereignty, we must at an early date achieve a genuine economic sovereignty. We have all the necessary resources. Well-designed and effective reforms in governance and economy is now more important than any successful foreign policy moves. Here are these objectives the society should be directed to", - concluded Chirikba.
