The event is the final stage of the project "Health", organized by the "International Fund Apsny".
Sukhum. June 16. Apsnypress. Dmitry Basariya. The conference, which has become the finale of the charity project of the "International Fund Apsny", in which from 13 to 15 June experts from Armenia took more than 300 children with cerebral palsy and autism. The structure of delegation included doctors orthopedic specialists, neurologists and therapists.
Summing up the work done, the Deputy Minister of Health of Abkhazia Batal Katsiya, said: "Specialists from Armenia were able to spend a great job in the transfer of experience to Abkhaz colleagues and correct their technique. I hope that this cooperation will expand. Rehabilitation of children with disabilities should be an important focus in the area of health".
Thanking the "International Fund Apsny" for the initiative, head of the delegation, adviser to the president of Chamber of Commerce in Armenia Lilia Gevorgyan, said: "We plan to expand our cooperation with the" International Fund "Apsny" not only in the field of training of Abkhaz pediatricians, but also in the rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy. In particular, we want to organize the reception of disabled children from Abkhazia for rehabilitation in the sanatorium of the famous Armenian resorts of Jermuk".
"I was pleased to see how the Abkhaz colleagues with great enthusiasm took over our experience in the process of working. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, our specialists also adopted the experience of foreign experts, because we needed the implementation of innovative technologies and methods in the rehabilitation of children with disabilities. It is important to note that the rehabilitation of the children with disabilities must deal with not one person, but a group. The working group should include experts, neurologists, orthopedists, speech therapists, occupational therapists and others, depending on the diagnosis. It is also necessary to take into account that the old methods of rehabilitation, when the patient adhibits a wide range of drugs, ineffective and often detrimental. A child needs a contact, live communication. The priority must be the rehabilitation methods such as exercise for brain development and motor skills".
Also, experts from Armenia have expressed concern that there is no necessary equipment for the rehabilitation of children with disabilities in Abkhazia. As a result, we have to go abroad to study diseases. Doctors from Armenia voiced list of necessary devices, which includes a device for neonatal screening of newborns, apparatus for magnetic resonance imaging, electroencephalography to measure brain capacity and much more.
