The epidemiological situation in the Republic of Abkhazia is favorable. During the entire pandemic, 38 cases of the disease were detected in the country, 37 patients recovered, one died. Not a single fact of the disease has been registered over the past five weeks.
Based on the real epidemiological situation, President Aslan Bzhaniya appealed to the government of the Russian Federation with an initiative to gradually remove restrictions on the crossing of the state border by citizens of Russia and Abkhazia, including the opening of the holiday season. The Abkhaz side is ready to lift such restrictions at any time. However, this issue is being resolved by agreement with the Russian side.
According to Coordination Headquarters, at present, Moscow is holding working meetings between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia Daur Kove and the leadership of the authorized bodies of Russia. As a result, in the near future representatives of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and Rospotrebnadzor are expected to arrive in Abkhazia to develop mechanisms for interaction between the parties in preventing the spread of coronavirus infections.
The Ministry of Health and the Office of the chief sanitary doctor of the Republic of Abkhazia are in constant consultation with Russian colleagues.
