Deputies of town and district assemblies of the Republic intend to offer their vision of reforming the system of local self-government

Sukhum. July 23. Apsnypress. "We have a little time to formulate our proposals and submit them to lawmakers for consideration. We know that work on the new laws "On the management of administrative-territorial units of the Republic of Abkhazia" and "On elections to the local self-government" is in its final stages. Therefore it was decided quickly and clearly articulate and justify what we want to amend the existing legislation", - the chairman of the Sukhum Town Assembly Konstantin Piliya. 

Lawyer of the Assembly Lana Tsaava offered the audience a Council  of the representatives of all meetings for the development of their proposals. The idea was supported by the chairman of the Ochamchira District Assembly Vyacheslav Kvekveskiri. He believes that it is necessary to amend Article 15 of the Law "On the management of administrative-territorial units of the Republic of Abkhazia". According to him, the Assembly shall give consent to the adoption of all the heads of departments, offices and municipal unitary enterprises of administrations of towns and districts, the allocation of land plots and their removal as well as to exercise control. Moreover, Kvekveskiri said that deputies should discuss the candidacy of judges, prosecutors, police chiefs and so on.

The meeting ended with agreement on the establishment of a permanent Council, which will include all the chairpersons and one deputy from assemblies of towns and districts. Lana Tsaava is elected as Secretary of the Board.
