Draft law "On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in the Republic of Abkhazia" was considered at a meeting of the parliamentary committee

At a meeting of the Committee of the National Assembly of the Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia on an international, inter-parliamentary relations and relations with compatriots was reviewed the draft Law of the Republic of Abkhazia "on the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in the Republic of Abkhazia" to be submitted to a meeting of the session on the second reading.

The Draft Law of the Republic of Abkhazia "On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in the Republic of Abkhazia" is being developed in order to determine the legal status of foreign nationals, as well as the regulation of relations between foreign citizens and public authorities, local governments, arising from the presence of foreign citizens in the Republic of Abkhazia. It is developed together with the draft of the Law of the Republic of Abkhazia "On the entry and exit of the Republic of Abkhazia". These laws do not regulate questions of citizenship. Questions of citizenship are regulated by the law of the Republic of Abkhazia "On Citizenship of the Republic of Abkhazia", adopted in 2005. 

In 2012, by the decision of the Parliament was established a working group to develop a draft law "On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in the Republic of Abkhazia". As a result of its operations on April 16, 2014 the bill was passed in the first reading. 

Work on the draft Law of the Republic of Abkhazia "On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in the Republic of Abkhazia" also was held by members of the previous, third and fourth convocations of the Parliament, but was not brought to an end.
