Entrepreneurs demanding the abolition of the VAT levied on the import of products imported into the country gathered in front of the Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia.
Sukhum. January 18. Apsnypress. Irena Dzhopua. «We have always paid the domestic VAT and are ready to continue to pay it, but why are we have to pay now at the border?", - Said one of the protesters. She noted that the need to increase prices due to the VAT would lead to a drop in demand for the goods and the crisis will hit trade.
Entrepreneurs warned that the situation forces them to hide their income.
For his part, MP Beslan Tsvinariya in an interview with reporters said that implementing the goods and increasing the price of the paid VAT, businessmen return that price itself, so to speak today about the fact that the VAT is an additional tax that burden on entrepreneurs is not true .
"VAT is 10 %. They say that the VAT raises the price, but for 2015 commodity prices have risen by 80-100% and to say that this tax is a stimulating factor in the growth of prices is not entirely correct", - said Tsvinariya.
At the moment, a group of protesters went to negotiate with Parliament Speaker Valery Bganba. In addition, the protesters said that they would not leave until they achieve the abolition of the tax.
Foodstuffs are not subject to the value added tax.
