The event is organized by the World Abkhaz-Abaza Congress.
Sukhum. July 24. Apsnypress. In honor of celebration of the Day of the National Flag of Abkhazia, the World Abkhaz-Abaza Congress (WAAC) prepared for the guests and residents of the republic festive events on the Muhajirs Embankment (on the square in front of the Drama Theater and on the S. Bagapsh Square).
The representative of the WAAC, Geta Ardzinba, spoke about the main idea of the event: “We tried to hold a holiday so that as many citizens as possible became not just as guests of the event, but also took an active part in processions and dances. We want to introduce a tradition of more mass and emotional celebration of this date, on a par with Victory Day. Because these holidays are identical. The date of adoption of the flag and the date of the outbreak of war are closely interrelated. The new flag has become a battle banner and a talisman for the defenders of the Fatherland. It brought us victory and has been flying over peaceful Abkhazia for more than twenty years. "
The event opened with a ceremonial setting on the square of the State Flag of Abkhazia. The State Orchestra of Folk Instruments of O. G. Huntsaria performed during the event.
The guests of the holiday got acquainted with the history of the creation of Abkhaz flags and banners (a historical reference was placed next to each flag and banner).
After that, everyone joined the torch and horse procession along the embankment to the square of S. Bagapsh. Volunteers and guests of the festival carried a 30-meter canvas depicting the Abkhaz flag across the square. The holiday ended with a mass celebration and circular dances of Aibarkyra.
