First day of spring in the Botanical Garden

In Botanical Garden of Sukhum began to bloom daffodils of Dutch group, a mixture of varieties of crocus, anemones crown, tulips, Spanish Scylla and other species. Some of them bloom much earlier due to anomalous warming.

The Botanical Garden is actively preparing for the summer: this month and in April in the greenhouses will be planted the ground flowers that bloom in summer. "There is no time when the garden doesn't bloom, but in winter bloom mostly trees or shrubs", - told "Apsnypress" the Head of the Department of Floriculture, PhD Irina Papazyan.

Until the War of Abkhazia Abkhaz growers regularly participated in international exhibitions, which presents its own Varieties and often took first places on the world's best flower shows. Today, our botanists are not able to do this, but they continue to maintain and replenish their famed collection.

"We have a large variety of annuals, because they have a fast cycle of life and working with them is easy, because the result is not long in coming, so the collection annually is updated with new varieties. Our task is to test new material and give advice on growing", - explained Papazyan.
