Fisheries are our resources and they should be used effectively - Arthur Mikvabiya

Sukhum. March 31st. Apsnypress. By information of the Chairman of the State Committee on Ecology and Nature Protection Saveliy Chitanava, today there is no legal framework governing the rights of fishing and fishing is conducted on the Soviet model regulations approved yet in 1969. 

As a result,  the First Deputy Prime Minister Shamil Adzynba stressed that we can talk about the "loss of profits". Fishery of Abkhazia could give at least 3 times much income. "Firstly, unjustifiably understated prices on bioresources. Thus it is necessary to divide the value of marketable fish and products for processing into fish factories. Second, none of the Black Sea basin is quoted on prey of anchovy. Allowable catch quotas are set only for Abkhazia", - said Shamil Adzynba. 

"It is needed to raise this issue at the intergovernmental commission on fisheries. It's time to change advice of quotas which give the Azov-Black Sea Institute of Fisheries of the Russian Federation", - said Saveliy Chitanava. 

"Own revenues of the republic should be significantly increased. Fisheries are our resources and we must use them effectively", - said the Prime Minister Arthur Mikvabiya.
