MFA: Abkhazia once again was demonstrated the commitment of the Georgian partners to practice double standards
Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia.
Sukhum. January 27. Apsnypress. The statement says:

"We paid attention to the statement by UN representatives in Georgia, that expressed "concern about the decision of the Abkhaz authorities to close the crossing points "in the Abkhaz-Georgian state border. It is noted that it would have "a negative impact on humanitarian situation and on the residents of Abkhazia.

A similar statement was made by US ambassador to Georgia, Ian Kelly. "In the case of movement restrictions, residents of Abkhazia will get complicated access to basic services such as health and education, as well as economic activities and social events such as weddings, funerals, and public holidays, as well as family relationships along the boundary line", - says the statement.

It should be recalled that the improvement and strengthening of the state border - the sovereign right of the Republic of Abkhazia, not aimed at the restriction of movement. Creating the conditions for the orderly movement of flows of people across the border with Georgia in the main checkpoint "Inguri" due to the need to ensure the security of the population, in no way are aimed at creating any obstacles to movement or isolation of the residents of Gal district, who are still able to cross the state border in the legislation of the Republic of Abkhazia.

In order to create necessary conditions for villagers of Bgoura (Otobaya) and Bataiguara (Nabakevi) so they could freely get to the checkpoint "Ingur" we made gradual reconstruction of the roadway, acquired a comfortable bus, plying on a regular basis on a particular route. Transportation is carried out by buses assigned to the respective villages. Only after the implementation of these measures, aimed at reducing costs for the residents of Gal district, there is a gradual implementation of the adopted by the Government of the Republic of Abkhazia solutions.

In this regard, expressed "concern" about the situation of "the residents of Abkhazia" is absolutely inappropriate. By "people of Abkhazia", about whom so worried the authorities of Georgia and its friends, understood only the population of Gal district. Somehow, the UN representatives in Georgia did not care about the fact that the majority of the population of Abkhazia as a result of deliberate policy of Tbilisi is in an international isolation, unable to fully realize their inalienable rights, including the right to travel. In fact, it carried out an unannounced humanitarian blockade against the Republic of Abkhazia. Any international event of humanitarian or cultural nature on the part of the Republic of Abkhazia gets an instant hysterical reaction by Georgian officials, and at their request actually breaks down. Such facts and plenty of them are well known to the UN representatives in Georgia.

We have to admit that we were once again demonstrated the commitment of the Georgian partners to practice double standards. Such partisan and biased attitude to the existing realities can not contribute to a constructive dialogue with the representatives of international organizations. The Republic of Abkhazia is set to a productive dialogue, but such hostile attacks negate the progress of the last years results.

We hope that in the future assessment of representatives of international organizations will become more balanced and objective, and will not have such a provocative character".
