International scientific-practical conference "Ancient Dioskuriada" in the capital

The Abkhaz State Museum holds International scientific-practical conference devoted to the forthcoming celebration of the Day of Sukhum - "Ancient Dioskuriada".

Sukhum. December 4. Apsnypress. Said Dzharsaliya. The organizers of the event are: Sukhum Administration, the Ministry of Culture and  historical and cultural heritage of Abkhazia, the Abkhazian Institute of Humanitarian Studies of D.I. Gulia, Academy of Sciences of Abkhazia, Abkhazian State Museum, the Abkhaz State University. RA MPs, researchers of the Russian Federation and Germany, as well as scientists of ABiH, ANA and ASU discussed topics of history of the town, which has already turned almost 2,500 years .

Opening the conference, the participants paid tribute to the academics, who died for the freedom of Abkhazia with a minute of silence.

«I hope that this conference will help to take a fresh look at the cultural heritage of the particle, which is at the heart of our capital", - said the deputy minister of culture and protection of historical and cultural heritage Batal Kobakhia.

For his part, the head of the Administration of Sukhum Adgur Kharazia said: "We do not know much about our capital. We must always learn to promote our town, where many trade routes crossed, overlapped the political battles over 2,500 years. Therefore, the determination of the Day of  Sukhum carries an educational and historical mission. This conference focuses on the role of cultural heritage and aims to contribute to establishing the date of the founding of our beautiful capital".

Among the topics of the scientific-practical conference "The nature, time and place of Antique Dioskuriada in the history of early ancient Abkhazia", "Contact of the ancient region Dioscuria with the ancient world, "Eshera settlement in the archaic era ","Ancient Abkhazians and the role of Dioscuria in the ancient Greek world".
