Kan Taniya: Strengthening the strategic partnership with Russia and international recognition of the independence of Abkhazia remain primary objectives

Sukhum. May 17. Apsnypress. "Strengthening the strategic partnership with the Russian Federation and promotion of broad international recognition of the independence of Abkhazia remain primary objectives", - said in an interview with Apsnypress Deputy Foreign Minister Kan Taniya. 

According to him, the staff of Foreign Ministry of Abkhazia is on a continuous work in this direction, it is needed to create necessary conditions for the promotion of international recognition and not only in foreign policy, but also internal. 

As for the immediate plans, Taniya noted that the Ministry expects new impulses to the development of relations with countries that recognized the independence of Abkhazia. 

"We plan to enhance existing Embassies of the Republic of Abkhazia and representative offices in other countries, as well as open new ones. We will systematically continue to work on increasing the number of countries to recognize the independence of Abkhazia, to protect the rights of our citizens living abroad, to defend our country's position on a number of issues in international negotiations", - said the deputy minister. 

In honor of establishment of the Foreign Ministry of Abkhazia, was first Abkhazian-Russian roundtable on "The Abkhaz-Russian relations at the present stage: the expectations, realities and perspectives", organized by the Council of Young Diplomats at the Foreign Ministry of Abkhazia. 

"The Council of Young Diplomats marks only a year, but we have already managed to achieve certain results. The most important of which - the signing of the Cooperation Agreement with the Council of Young Diplomats at the Foreign Ministry of Russia", - noted in her speech, Chairman of the Board of Young Diplomats at the Foreign Ministry of Abkhazia Amina Lazba. 

According to the Chairman of the Board of Young Diplomats of the Russian Foreign Ministry Konstantin Kolpakov, such conferences should be held on a regular basis. 

"Youth cooperation between Russia and Abkhazia today is booming, both at the level of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and between the relevant organizations which are active in Abkhazia and Russia", - he stressed. 

The roundtable was divided into five sessions. 

Its first session was opened by a report of the Foreign Minister Vyacheslav Chirikba  "On coordinated foreign policy of Abkhazia and Russia: New Opportunities and Prospects". 

"In the context of transforming system of international relations in which there are no effective mechanisms for resolving disputes and conflicts, as well as the open anti-Russian policy pursued by the West, the echoes of which we see in relation to Abkhazia, we continue to be in an area of ​​numerous threats and challenges . Unfortunately, the possibility of our own small republic often do not allow efficiently meet these challenges ", - noted in his speech the Foreign Minister of Abkhazia. 

"Against this background, we provide comprehensive support to the Russian Federation. At the same time, we are interested in development of cooperation with other partners, especially with those countries and organizations that build friendly relations with Russia", - said Chirikba. 

Also presentations were made by Dmitry Shamba, Alexander Skakov, Aslan Avidzba, Oleg Damenia and others. 

Diplomatic Worker's Day in Abkhazia has been celebrated since May 17, 1993. On this day was signed decree "On creation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia".
