MGIMO celebrated the 10th anniversary of Russia's recognition of the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia

During the event, there was a meeting with students.

Sukhum. October 23. Apsnypress. A solemn event was held at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations dedicated to the 10th anniversary of Russia's recognition of the independence of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Republic of South Ossetia.
 
 At the invitation of the Rector of MGIMO, Academician Anatoly Torkunov the event was attended by Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassadors of the Republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia Igor Akhba, Znaur Gassiev, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Carlos Rafael Faria Tortosa, Charge d'Affaires of the Republic of Nicaragua Alba Torres.
 
 The event included a meeting with students, which was opened by Anatoly Torkunov. He noted that the recognition of independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia held ten years ago played a major role in the socio-economic development of the republics, as well as in shaping a new level of cooperation with the Russian Federation.
 
 For his part, Igor Akhba thanked the leadership of MGIMO for the opportunity for students from Abkhazia to study.
 
 Addressing the students from Abkhazia attending the event, Akhba said: “It is an honor to study in such a prestigious Russian university as MGIMO, and you should understand how important it is to study well in order to benefit your Motherland in the future.”
 
 After the ceremonial part, a tree planting ceremony was held at the “Alley of Friendship”, in which the MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Abkhazia in Russia Igor Akhba took part.
