On the eve of the Day of the Volunteer, Defence Minister, General of the Army Mirab Kishmariya met with veterans of the War of Abkhazia 1992 - 1993, who are volunteers from the Republic of South Ossetia.

The delegation of veterans of the War of Abkhazia, volunteers from the Republic of South Ossetia arrived in the Volunteer Day in Abkhazia on a friendly visit, visited the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Abkhazia, the press service of the Defense Ministry of Abkhazia.
"We will never forget how in the early days of the war, our brothers stood next to us. You have come to help us in our struggle for freedom and independence. Defense Minister noted the contribution of volunteerism to the victory of the people of Abkhazia in the war of 1992 - 1993 and stressed the need to develop and strengthen ties with all the defenders of Apsny.
The meeting discussed the events of August 2008, the role of Abkhazia in the operation to force Georgia to peace, to release the upper part of Kodor Gorge, the restoration of the territorial integrity of the Republic of Abkhazia and the subsequent recognition of the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia by the Russian Federation.
