More than 8 thousand tourists visited Abkhazia during the New Year holidays

According to experts, the attendance rates of Abkhazia for the winter holidays are at the level of last year.

Sukhum. 12 January. Apsnypress. Specialists of the Abkhazian tourism sector presented the indicators of tourist flow during the New Year holidays.

 So, according to Deputy Minister for Resorts and Tourism of the Republic of Abkhazia Astamyr Akhba, more than 8 thousand tourists visited Abkhazia on New Year holidays. "Some tourist sites took visitors during the New Year holidays, organized excursion and entertainment programs for them," - Akhba said.  

 In turn, tourism organizations have provided specific figures.

  Deputy director of the Ritsa relic national park Inga Taniya gave the statistics: "Over the last 10 days, the RRNP was visited by 2,696 tourists. For comparison, for the same period in 2017 this figure was 2,399 people. " As Taniya noted, the popularity of the RRNP is associated with unsurpassed natural beauty and accessibility for visiting during the winter: "Ritsa National Park is the visiting card of the country. It attracts tourists by beauty and untouched nature, plenty of snow and accessibility. The road leading to park is in excellent condition. It is regularly cleaned of snow." 

   Deputy director of the Association "Pitsunda Resort" Pavel Kirtbaya said that, unfortunately, objects do not accept tourists in winter. "However, this year we plan to start preparations for winter tourism. For this, it is necessary to install equipment for heating the pool and rooms, and also to attract animators to organize New Year's performances, " - Kirtbaya said.
  
 According to the analysis of excursion department of the tourist agency "Apsua-Tour", during the Christmas holidays, Abkhazia traditionally attracts tourists-pilgrims. "The ancient Orthodox churches of Abkhazia are visited by many tourists-pilgrims during church holidays. This year on Christmas days were popular excursion routes to Agudzera, Ilor, Mokva temples," - said Tina Joliya, head of the excursion department of Apsua-Tour.
  
 At the same time, director of the Abkhaz travel agency "World Travel" Oksana Dzheniya believes that the development of winter tourism will increase the number of domestic tourists. "Today many Abkhazian tourists celebrate New Year with their families in popular resort Krasnaya Polyana. If we develop winter tourism we will be able to attract not only foreign tourists to Abkhazia but also provide services for the residents of the country and it will have a favorable effect on the economy, " - Dzheniya noted.
