Muslims of Abkhazia celebrate the end of Ramadan

Sukhum. July 17. Apsnypress. The celebration began with the distribution of alms to the needy in the form of food after the dawn prayer and fulfillment of collective Eid prayer in the mosque. During the prayer, the imam announced the end of fasting and asked the Almighty's blessing and forgiveness for all believers. 

"The Feast of Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan. Fasting during Ramadan is one of the main pillars of Islam upon which faith is, so this event is of great importance to Muslims. Celebration includes distribution of alms for needy (Sadaqat al-Fitr) after dawn prayers. This charity Muslims of Abkhazia have long  called "Fitr Para" and gave it a big importance. After almsgiving Muslims traditionally covered banquet tables and go together with the whole family to visit others", - said in an interview with "Apsnypress" the chairman of the Common Spiritual Board of Muslims of Abkhazia Salih Kvaratskhelia. 

After the Eid prayer, Muslims and their families took part in the festivities in the park "Skazka", organized by the Muslim Spiritual Board of Abkhazia with the support of the State Committee for repatriation.
