A new socio-cultural project "MORE", aimed at solving urgent public tasks from the standpoint of art has been launched.
Sukhum. June 22. Apsnypress. Lana Tsvizhba. The social and cultural project "MORE" united the artists of Abkhazia for the joint solution of urgent public tasks from the positions of art, creativity, creation.
According to the initiator of the project, the architect-designer Elizaveta Shapovalova, MORE creates a platform and conditions for the successful development of a new modern look, style and visual imagery of Abkhazia through elements of architecture, design, painting, and graphics. The new associative stylistics of Abkhazia will be based, mainly, on the cultural and traditional heritage of the republic. The motto of the project is "To be, not to seem: patriotic, functional, successful."
Elisaveta Shapovalova singled out one of the main components of the project - the creation of a team of artists to work on a common goal.
The initiator of the project told how this idea will be realized: "We want our traditional values: national clothes, architecture to meet modern requirements, but to not lose historical fundamentality. We will create a brand collection. To begin with, these are absolutely simple things: pens, notebooks, exercise books, cases for mobile phones, scarves, bags. We start with a small and affordable. All funds raised from the sale of this collection will be used to restore the architectural appearance of the town".
Also, according to Elizaveta Shapovalova, this summer there will be the first annual International Arts Festival in Abkhazia "MORE FESTIVAL". More than 100 applications of artists from 8 countries of the world have already been submitted for participation in the event. "The world experience of holding such international festivals shows that this works best for the problem of awareness of the world community about the life of the country and attracting tourists. Now the festival collects sponsor support. We have more than half of the investments, for which we already managed to organize the festival, to ensure the presence of artists during the three festival days, "- noted Shapovalova.
Elizaveta Shapovalova told about other ideas of the project. For example, about the proposal of the architect Arkhip Labahua to create a sculpture of the Tom Thumb, based on Korney Chukovsky's fairy tale "The Adventures of Bibigon". "Arkhip believes our town will get new colors and a new look trough the variety of stories these little sculptures tell. There is not a single sculpture of the Tom Thumb in the world. If Sukhum becomes the first town to create such a sculpture, this will be a significant event, as Korney Chukovsky and the character from the fairy tale "Bibigon" are very famous all over the world, "Shapovalova noted.
From her part, architect-designer Kama Katsiya expressed hope that the project will remain not only on paper, but will become realizable. "We will create some kind of symbol structure that could be used in low-budget projects. Perhaps it will be some special ornament. We will think about it, " - said Katsiya.
