The bill was adopted in the first reading.

Sukhum. July 26 Apsnypress. At the session of the National Assembly of RA Parliament, a bill "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Abkhazia" was adopted.

Introducing the draft law, deputy Dmitry Dbar noted that the changes concern distributors of narcotic drugs. "The Parliamentary Commission on Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances has decided to make some changes to the law: add penalties and terms in some articles. A key change was proposed in Part 3 of Art. 224, app. 1. So, if earlier the term of punishment provided for deprivation of liberty for a period of 15 to 20 years with deprivation of the right to hold a certain post up to 3 years, we excluded this and left the punishment - life imprisonment or death penalty with confiscation of property " - he said.

Dbar explained: "This sanction will apply to a group of persons who on a large scale carry out transport illegal drugs across the state border, they are not subject to house arrest and UDO. Also, we add fines. "

At the same time, chairman of the Committee on State and Legal Policy, Valery Agrba, said that the Committee approved the draft law. "In our opinion, the strengthening of sanctions should influence the process of distribution of narcotic substances in the territory of the Republic of Abkhazia. Also, for persons driving a motor vehicle in the state of intoxicated and previously subjected to administrative punishment, a fine of 600 thousand rubles is provided, with the deprivation of the right to hold a certain position for up to 1 year. "

The bill was adopted in 1 reading.
