Presentation of the project of protection of historical zones of Anakopiya-New Athos

New Athos. July 8. Apsnypress. The administration of New Athos presented the project of protection of historical zones of Anakopiya-New Athos. Project of protection zones considering the town as a complex of historical monument, town planning, architecture and landscape. It addresses a number of problems: identification of all complex values ​​of the town, an inventory of objects of historical and cultural heritage, the definition of the boundaries of zones of protection, prioritization and other planning policy. The first project of protected zones, which formed the basis of the presented project was developed in 2003.    

"We have strengthened the weak points of the project, expanded security zones. In addition, the emphasis was initially on the area of ​​protection of historical and cultural heritage, and in the updated version are enhanced urban functions",- said Argun. 

Creators of the project have developed a promising area of ​​development of the town. "There are no enough lands in the town for development, and taking away part of the ground of historical and cultural significance, we found a compensatory mechanism and define the area for the development of the town", - said Argun. 

The project also has an inventory of cultural heritage. The first lists of objects were created in 1924, since then they have replenished. 

"Due to the fact that even in Soviet time there was not installed protection system of objects, we can not find many of them. Since 2005, the reserve is taking an annual expedition to the discovery of monuments. These expeditions have discovered nine new objects and included them in the list ", - said the director of the reserve. 

Deputy Minister of Culture and Protection of Historical and Cultural Heritage Batal Kobakhiya thanked the team for their work, which, he said, would be "the first step in the way of inventory of monuments of historical and cultural heritage". He said that the project should be approved at the district Administration and then, in September, it will be put to a parliamentary session. 

"In September we will begin to lobby inventory in the Parliament. We have to cover the whole Abkhazia with such cards", - said Kobakhiya.
