President congratulated the veterans and the people of Abkhazia on the 71st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War

President Raul Khadjimba appealed to the veterans and all citizens of the Republic of Abkhazia with congratulations in connection with the 71st anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

 Dear citizens of the Republic of Abkhazia!
 
 Let me with all my heart congratulate you on a great holiday - Victory Day.
 
 The significance of this event, that changed the world, is only increasing with each passing day. Celebrating the 71st anniversary of the Great Victory, we once again think back in those terrible days when only the unity of the peoples of the Soviet Union, dedication and heroism of the defenders of Fatherland were able to put an end to the global evil of Nazism and bring liberation to all mankind.
 
 We pay tribute to veterans, who with unexampled bravery and courage defended the Caucasus and fought on the outskirts of Moscow, participated in the Battle of Kursk and Stalingrad, liberated Europe and stormed Berlin. Among them - more than 55 thousand residents of Abkhazia who shoulder to shoulder with Russian and other peoples of the Soviet Union came to the defense of the Fatherland.
 
 Today, and at all times we will honor the memory of the millions of people whose lives took the war.
 
 Dear veterans! Each of you is extremely precious for us. You have lived through two wars and honorably withstood these terrible trials. Your children and grandchildren have taken from your hand the banner of courage and patriotism, and valiantly defended Apsny, having obtained the victory in the War of Abkhazia in 1992-1993. You can be proud of them.
 
   At the bright day of the Great Victory, we once again feel our indissoluble spiritual unity with the Russian people. Respect for our common history and a common victory brings us together with the Russian Federation, strengthening the friendly and allied relations between our peoples and states.
 
  It was the unity that saved the Soviet people in the struggle against fascism. Unity and solidarity are powerful weapons in the war of our people with the Georgian aggressor. We should today be the same for Abkhazia to develop it, to realize the internal potential, to live better, to become self-sufficient state, to get peace and stability in our society.
 
 Then we will be invincible, and all will be achieved.
 
 I wish you, dear veterans and all citizens of Abkhazia health, prosperity and success.
