President of the Republic of Abkhazia met with President of the Syrian Arab Republic

The summit was held within the framework of the official visit of President of Abkhazia Raul Khajimba to the Syrian Arab Republic.

Sukhum. 4 September. Apsnypress. President of the Republic of Abkhazia Raul Khajimba met with President of the Syrian Arab Republic Bashar Assad.
 
 Opening the meeting, Bashar Assad welcomed Raul Khajimba: "Your delegation includes representatives of all spheres that can create a strong foundation for the start of our relations. We want to congratulate you on the tenth anniversary of recognition of Abkhazia's independence. We also want to fill our relations with social, economic and cultural aspects. Representatives of different nationalities live in our countries. Representatives of your diaspora also live in Syria. The agreements we will sign will be an important step in our relations. "
 
 Raul Khajimba thanked the Syrian President for the invitation to visit the country: "This event is of historical significance for us. Here is the official delegation of Abkhazia after diplomatic recognition by Syria. I am sincerely grateful to you for invitation and opportunity to meet with you and your colleagues.
  
 The decision to recognize was a bold move by the Syrian Arab Republic. Today, the US, the West are doing everything to oppose Syria.
 
 The history of our relations goes back centuries. The XIX century is the period when the Circassians and Abkhazians turned out to be the will of fate in the territory of Syria. It is important for us that they are with you today, with government troops, that they support the power that is legitimately elected by the people of Syria.
  
 Today we are signing a framework Treaty on Friendship and Cooperation, and then other documents that will allow us to develop mutually beneficial relations, strengthen the legal and regulatory framework for our cooperation. "
 
 An official visit also included a meeting of the heads of state in an expanded format.
