President: the problem of crossing the border should be resolved as soon as possible

President of Abkhazia discussed the situation on the Abkhaz-Russian border at the meeting.

Sukhum. 26 July. Apsnypress. President of the Republic of Abkhazia Raul Khajimba held a meeting on the situation on the Abkhaz-Russian border. Secretary of the Security Council Muhamed Kilba, Chairman of the State Security Service Zurab Margania, Head of the Frontier Detachment of the SGB, Deputy Chairman of the SGB Nodar Chachkhiani were invited to discuss the issue. 

 The head of state stressed: "The situation on the border remains rather complicated. Leaving the state of affairs that exists today is by no means impossible. I gave the appropriate instruction to the Security Council and the SGB Frontier Group to clarify the real picture, and to suggest the necessary measures to improve the quality of the work carried out, both on our own and on the Russian side. "
 
 Raul Khajimba said: "I was told that buses stand there from one to three hours. In fact there is a poll when crossing the border. It is necessary to take into account all these moments. "
 
 At the same time, President noted that he had already discussed the issue with head of the Federal Security Service of Russia. "I was assured that measures to improve the state of affairs at the border will be taken" - he said. 
 
 For his part, Secretary of Security Council of the Republic of Abkhazia, Muhamed Kilba, reported about the measures taken: "Indeed, there are such facts when the passage of the checkpoint at passport control procedure is excessively prolonged. The absolute majority of citizens who cross the border on this transition today are citizens of the Russian Federation. They go to us, basically, to rest as tourists. I contacted with the leadership of Security Council of the Russian Federation. Based on the materials provided by our Frontier Service, I wrote to Rashid Gumarovich, who on the same day responded that they also appealed to the leadership of the Main Frontier Directorate of the FSB of Russia. Based on the experience of our joint work with the agencies of the Russian Federation, I must emphasize that there has always been an understanding, and the reaction has always been positive. "
 
President stressed that the problem of crossing the border should be resolved as soon as possible. The participants of the meeting were instructed to report regularly to the Head of State on the situation.
