President: the value and authority of district and municipal assemblies have increased significantly after the holding of the local self-government reform

President Raul Khadjimba took elect chairpersons of district and town assemblies.

 The president stressed the special role of local government in a democratic society, noting that, while being not part of the system of public authorities, local authorities have important powers relating to the approval of the local budgets, taxes and other payments, solve municipal property issues and others that are directly related to the interests of our citizens.
 
 "The deputies of district and town councils have a great responsibility and the appropriate authority. You interact directly with our citizens, and often people wait for attention to their problems and effective attitude", - said the head of state.
  
 The President stressed that the importance and the powers of district and municipal assemblies have increased significantly after the reforms conducted by local authorities ad appropriate changes to the Constitution. "From now on such important issues as the appointment of the head of town or district administration, the President may decide only with the support of the Assembly. Thus, our citizens through you, their representatives, give their consent to the appointment of the head of the district administration or the town ", - said Raul Khadjimba.
 
 The President noted with satisfaction that there was a lot of young people among the deputies of the assembly. The Head of State expressed hope that the young parliamentarians will be peculiar inherent in their more experienced colleagues calm, balanced, responsible and professional approach. "I have no doubt that the Assembly endowed with new powers to show their best side and be able to effectively address important issues for the citizens", - said Khadjimba.
  
 Chairmen of district and municipal assemblies thanked the President for the appointment and expressed hope that such meetings will become regular.
 
 The meeting also discussed the possibility of resuming the activities of the Council of chairmen of district assemblies.
