In the Abkhaz State Drama Theater S. Chanba was held a press conference dedicated to the opening of the first International Festival of Culture of Fazil Iskander "Sites of human".

To the journalists' questions answered the Minister of culture and protection of historical and cultural heritage Elvira Arsaliya, curator Shazina Agrba and Alexey Shervashidze-Chachba, directors of the upcoming film based on the story of Iskander "Sofichka" - Cantemir Balaga and Kira Kovalenko, as well as special guests of the festival - Russian filmmaker Alexander Sokurov and daughter of Fazil Iskander - Marina.
Elvira Arsaliya noted that the main purpose of the festival is cultural education. "Given the popularity of Iskander in many countries of the world, he must play the role of a cultural bridge between Abkhazia and other countries", - said Arsaliyev.
Today has been the opening of the festival, at which will be demonstrated an exhibition of books of Fazil Iskander in Abkhaz French, Italian, German, English, Japanese, Persian and other languages. It will last one day.
The Festival in the auditorium of the theater will show the film of Vladimir Motyl "Rasstanemsya poka horoshie" based on the novel of Iskander "Dudka starogo Hasana" and performance of the filmmaker Alexander Sokurov with the story of the film "Sofichka".
According Sokurov, the creative team of his students in September plans to start shooting a movie based on the novel by Fazil Iskander "Sofichka".
His best students Cantemir Balaga and Kira Kovalenko will be the film directors. This will be their debut.
The idea of the film came at the workshop of the students of Sokurov, who are familiar with the works of Iskander. Young directors for several days spent casting for actors and non-professionals on the role in a future movie.
According to the director, only Iskander can so truthfully reveal the artistic way of life of the Abkhazian people.
As noted Kira Kovalenko, the fate of Sofichka is very important for us. "We will try to show what wanted to say Iskander and what we want to say", - she said.
