Press office of President: The course of foreign policy of Abkhazia remains unchanged, since it is determined by President, not Minister

Comment of presidential press service on statement of the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs.

"Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia Viacheslav Chirikba stated that he sees no possibility in these circumstances to continue to work as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia and expressed hope that the foreign policy of the country remains unchanged.

In this regard, we consider it necessary to note that the main reason for not re-assigned to the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs Vyacheslav Chirikba is his refusal to lead the Abkhazian delegation on a visit to the Transdniestrian Moldovan Republic for the Republic Day celebrations. Vyacheslav Chirikba explained his position as if in case of his deportation by the Moldovan side, he may have problems with entry to Europe.

It should also be noted that the course of foreign policy of the Republic of Abkhazia, despite the change of foreign minister, remains the same, since, according to the Constitution of the Republic of Abkhazia, foreign policy is determined by the President, not the minister".
