Press office of the President: opposition members opt to strengthen the confrontation and instability in society

Statement by the Press Service of the President of the Republic of Abkhazia.

Sukhum. March 2. Apsnypress. «In connection with the requirement of the opposition to hold a referendum on the need for early elections of the President of the Republic of Abkhazia, we are authorized to state the following.
 
  There is a  difficult financial, economic and geopolitical situation around Abkhazia over the past year. The crisis in the Russian economy, as well as the consequences of ineffective economic policy of previous years, directly affect the quality and standard of living of our citizens.
 
 Despite these objective difficulties, we are building a close and fruitful relationship with Russia, which, in particular, has allowed us to significantly increase salaries and pensions in the Republic of Abkhazia. During the recent negotiations between the Presidents of Abkhazia and Russia were have achieved concrete results related to the provision of further improvement of the quality of life of citizens of Abkhazia.
 
 Thus the main problem for the President is engaging the internal resources of the country, and 2015 has shown that we have such opportunities. We must make every effort to develop the economy and strengthen the rule of law, to complete reforms and to ensure qualitative growth of living standards of our citizens, even in conditions of financial and economic crisis in the ruble zone.
 
 To do this, we must combine the efforts of our people. The president has repeatedly - in public and in personal meetings - suggested representatives of the opposition to move from confrontation to an open and constructive dialogue, in the course of which would consolidate the good will of the political forces to the benefit of our entire society.
 
The Political Consultative Council have been established for the first time in the modern history of the country, composed of representatives of all opposition groups. As part of this important deliberative body the political forces of the country would have the opportunity to jointly develop policies on key public issues and directly influence the decisions of the leaders of Abkhazia.
 
 Instead, we are proposed the implementation of questionable politicized actions, objectively aimed at destabilizing the situation in the country. The opposition deliberately abandoning civilized dialogue, making a choice in favor of strengthening the confrontation and instability in the society.
 
 We are confident that this irresponsible policy will receive a proper assesment of our citizens. At the same time the public authorities will fully ensure the stability and legitimacy of the Republic of Abkhazia ", says a statement
