However, another integral part of the functioning of the state is the rule of law. July 16, 2015 the President signed a decree on dismissal of Lavrentiy Mikvabia from the post of Deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Abkhazia. This is due to a violation by L. Mikvabia the provisions of the Law on the Status of Servicemen prohibiting soldiers participate in political activities.
In addition, L. Mikvabia ignored a direct order of the Commander of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Abkhazia, which is a gross violation of military regulations.
It should also be stressed that appointing L. Mikvabia to the post of Deputy Defense Minister, President did not come from his political bias, but after taking office L. Mikvabia was obliged to strictly follow the requirements of the law and military regulations.
Thus, the President's decision is dictated by the need to strengthen the principle of non-interference of the military in politics and the preservation of discipline and unity of command in the army.
