Press service of President: the decision of the Central Election Commission on the re-election of the President was made on the basis of illegal and unlawful determination of the Cassation Board

Statement by Presidential Press and Information Office.

Sukhum. January 12. Apsnypress. Press service of President of Abkhazia issued a statement  
 “The decision of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Abkhazia to hold the re-election of President on March 22 this year was adopted on the basis of an illegal and unlawful determination of the Cassation Board of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Abkhazia.
 
 As previously noted, the decision of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Abkhazia took place against the backdrop of the seized complex of government buildings and unprecedented pressure on judges of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Abkhazia.
 
 The decision to hold a repeated election of President of the Republic of Abkhazia, adopted in development of the illegal verdict of the Cassation Collegium, moves us away from the search for ways to stabilize the socio-political situation in the country.

   We declare that we do not agree with this decision and we will appeal it in the manner prescribed by law. ”
