Prime Minister: August 14 is the day of the beginning of heroic feat of our people

The ceremony of laying flowers was held in Sukhum in the Park of Glory in honor of the 24th anniversary of the War of Abkhazia.

Sukhum. August 14. Apsnypress. Irena Dzhopua. President Raul Khadjimba, Vice-president Vitaly Gabniya, Prime Minister Beslan Bartsits, parliamentarians, government officials, veterans and residents of the country honored the memory of fallen soldiers at the Memorial of Glory in Sukhum.
 
 Vice-President Vitaly Gabniya noted that the date of August 14 is difficult for our people. "On this day, our people stood in front of a difficult choice - either to kneel down and save lives, losing self-identity, or stand up and fight with little chance of success. The people chose to fight, Vladislav Ardzinba chose the same. It was a daunting choice with a high degree of responsibility", - said Gabniya. On the day of the beginning of the War Vitaly Gabniya wished people of Abkhazia unity. "We must not lose the statehood, which we get by a very hard way",  - said Vice-president.
 
 Prime Minister of Abkhazia Beslan Bartsits stressed that this date forever entered the history of our state, as the beginning of the heroic feat of our people.
 "This is a day of mourning, the day of remembrance of our brothers, who laid down their lives for freedom, peace and prosperity. And may God grant us strength to the cause for which they did not spared lives, will be continued with dignity for the good of our country, in honor of prosperity of our Motherland ", - said the head of government.
 
The action "Time to Remember" was held at 12:00 am throughout the country. Every citizen of the republic could honor the memory of the deceased with a minute of silence.
