Prime Minister held a meeting with people with disabilities of the War of Abkhazia

The participants noted the importance of establishing a Council under the Disability Fund to ensure transparency in decision-making and the qualitative distribution of resources of the Fund.

Sukhum. July 11. Apsnypress. Prime Minister of the Republic of Abkhazia, Alexander Ankvab, met with representatives of the regional associations of invalids of War of Abkhazia of 1992-1993, the leadership of Foundation of Disabled, OVNA.

The meeting was also attended by First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture Beslan Jopua, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance Vladimir Delba, Minister of Health Tamaz Tsakhnakiya, Minister of Social Security and Demographic Policy Ruslan Adzhba, acting Head of the Cabinet Office David Sanguliya.

The meeting was dedicated to the functioning of the Foundation for Disabled, local associations, their interaction.

Participants discussed ways to improve the effectiveness of the Fund.

The participants noted the importance of establishing a Council under the Fund to ensure transparency in decision-making and qualitative distribution of the resources of the Fund.

During the meeting, the question about the organization of the re-registration of war invalids was raised. Those present offered to think over the reform of medical and social expertise, the formation of a new composition of this commission and the conduct of a further audit of the designation of disability for war veterans.

At the end of the meeting, representatives of district associations expressed their opinion on ways to improve the provision of targeted medical care, compliance with social obligations to people with disabilities, the provision of benefits in various industries, etc.

A number of proposals regarding the reorganization of the procedure for providing assistance in the form of preferential provision of medicines, assistance in the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities will be finalized and sent to all participants in the meeting for amendments.

Following the discussion of all proposals, the Cabinet of Ministers Office together with interested bodies will develop a regulatory act that will be approved by the Government.

According to the Fund, there are 2,900 invalids of the War of Abkhazia throughout the republic. Of these, 349 disabled people of group I, 2,468 disabled people of group II and 83 disabled people of group III.

The amount of monthly payments to disabled people of group I is 20 thousand rubles, for disabled people of war of group II 7,500 without allowance and 6,500 for disabled people of war of group III.
