Prime Minister of Abkhazia received representative of the mission of the Red Cross
The head of the ICRC mission in Abkhazia, Maxim Zabaluev, arrived in the republic for the first time.

Sukhum. June 22. Apsnypress. Prime Minister of the Republic of Abkhazia Gennady Gaguliya received a representative of the mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Abkhazia.

Head of the ICRC mission in Abkhazia Maxim Zabaluev arrived in the republic for the first time and made a fact-finding visit to the head of the RA Government.

Gennady Gaguliya welcomed Maxim Zabaluev and noted that the role of the Red Cross in countries around the world in times of armed conflict can not be overemphasized: "The history and geography of the international organization that you represent is immense. One of the noblest deeds of your mission is the search for the remains of the missing soldiers in the War of Abkhazia. There are no words to describe the feelings of a mother who does not know where to mourn her son. With each new name on the list of identified soldiers, you bring relief to a house where a loss occurred many years ago. "

Assistant to head of the Red Cross mission in Abkhazia Boris Kazanba told Gennady Gaguliya about the priority directions of work for the near future: For more than 150 years, the Red Cross has been struggling with the consequences of the war in the world. Our mission in Abkhazia has been working since 1992, it is conditioned by concept of work for the next 5 years. The exhumation of the remains is also carried out within the framework of the five-year strategy, and 2021 will be the first threshold for determining further tasks in this direction. "

Also, Maxim Zabaluev thanked Gennady Gaguliya for the high level of confidence of members of the Government of Abkhazia and regular feedback.

Prime Minister noted that every dead soldier must find a grave. "Finding out the fate of the missing, you give a second life to their names, which are forever inscribed in the history of Abkhazia. However, the examination of exhumed remains is more difficult every year, since the best carriers of the DNA of the deceased are parents who die. In this case, the work becomes more complicated, "- said Gennady Gaguliya.
