The Public Chamber of Abkhazia distributed an appeal to parliamentarians.
Sukhum. March 10. Apsnypress. The Public Chamber of Abkhazia appealed to speaker and deputies of the People's Assembly of Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia with a request “to immediately respond to a hunger strike in support of ratification of Art. 20 - Articles 58/4 of the UN Convention against Corruption and introduction into the Criminal Code of a new offense of “Illegal Enrichment” in relation to officials of the Republic of Abkhazia. ”
“You can’t just be silent. People risk their health for the public good, and you must either adopt the required Law, or explain to society your position which does not allow you to accept it. You may have reasonable reasons to delay the adoption of the Law or refuse to accept it at all, but society should be aware of these reasons.
Silence of Parliament aggravates the situation, arouses mistrust in society and can provoke a popular explosion that will lead to disruption of presidential election.
We urge you to take our appeal seriously, understanding your responsibility to the country, ” the appeal says.
