RA MFA: the Abkhaz-Russian interstate relations cannot be the subject of political speculation

Comment of the Abkhaz Foreign Ministry.

On 14 September 2016, the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Vladimir Zhirinovsky at the press conference in the press center of the TASS answering the question of a Georgian journalist regarding the Abkhazian-Russian relations, allowed himself a number of unacceptable statements against the Republic of Abkhazia.

Such statements of the deputy of the State Duma, the LDPR leader, unfortunately, do not emerge for the first time. We have to remind Vladimir Zhirinovsky that the Russian Federation recognized the sovereignty of Abkhazia on 26 August 2008 and established diplomatic relations with it. Allied relations between Abkhazia and Russia, based on mutual interests of the two countries, primarily in the area of ​​security, are built on a solid legal foundation and are developing successfully.

We are convinced that the Abkhaz-Russian interstate relations cannot be the subject of political speculation, and that such extremely hostile attacks against the Republic of Abkhazia will not affect the intensively developing friendly relations between our countries.
