Raul Khadjimba met with ophthalmologists from Moscow

Sukhum. June 5. Apsnypress. The meeting was also attended by First Deputy Prime Minister Shamil Adzynba who together with the Advisor to the President on Health Eduard Butba are responsible for this project. 

Presenting guests to the Head of State, Adviser to the President Eduard Butba said that they had come to Abkhazia for ophthalmic clinical examination of the population of Abkhazia. "Under this program, Russia's leading specialists ophthalmologists conduct an initial ophthalmologic examination of residents of all regions of the republic. We'll start with Sukhum on their first visit, and then with all districts of Abkhazia", - said Butba. He added that work is done in close cooperation with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Abkhazia and with the active assistance of the First Deputy Prime Minister Shamil Adzynba. 

Head of the Department of Ophthalmology of the Russian National Research Medical University Igor Medvedev, told the President about the plans of working visits to hospitals of of Sukhum to determine the main base for the start of the subsequent clinical examination. "It's a good experience for physicians who work in Abkhazia. Also, given that we have arrived with representatives of two medical universities, it is also an opportunity for education and training of your staff".  

The President noted that this visit and all other similar projects are aimed at creating an opportunity for healing of our nation. "One of the most important areas for is improving the health of our citizens. Our Ministry of Health is actively working in this direction and we are laying the funds for the purchase of specialized equipment in order to enable us to start work on the medical examination of our citizens", - said the President. He added that, unfortunately, due to the limited capacity of the health system of the Republic, population is forced to travel outside Abkhazia. 

Edward Butba stressed that after the first stage and determination of the main query, group of doctors for high-tech operations in place will be sent here. "As a rule, the main group of patients - older people who have difficulty with traveling outside the country. Together with the Ministry of Health, we will prepare for operating in the country, as well as in clinics of international level", - he said. 

As part of this working visit are scheduled a series of meetings with experts of the Ministry of Health and the reception of patients in the hospitals of Sukhum.
