Raul Khadjimba: we laid a grant mechanism for research funding in the budget of 2016

President congratulated the young scientists on the Day of Science of Abkhazia and noted that it is impossible to become a full and effective state, respected in the world, without the development of intellectual potential. "Society without education and science is doomed to degradation and disappearance. The increase of the number of young scientists in the Abkhazian science is very important. We need to sustain this trend. We must create for our scientists additional opportunities for creative realization, setting new, more ambitious goals to achieve recognition not only in Abkhazia, but also in the world". However, he noted the need to improve the system of research funding. "You need new approaches and move from the estimated current, payroll funding to project finance and grant disbursement. And I want to tell you that we have laid a grant mechanism for research funding in the budget of 2016", - said the head of state. The President stressed that today Abkhazian science should help us in a certain place, which occupies Abkhazia in the modern world, and to indicate the path of harmonious integration into global processes. 

"The development of science and education should become our national idea and serve as a counterweight to the dangerous process of criminalization of youth consciousness, as well as ignorance and obscurantism. I urge you and all young people to work and for the benefit of Abkhazia, engaging our internal resources in the economy and other areas, the modernization of our country. Because government decisions often must be based on a scientific foundation. This massive task you have to perform together, work together, not separated by any criteria. Our goal is to support you in the search for scientific and professional help to achieve results that will lead our state and society to a new level", - Khadjimba said.

In turn, young scientists thanked the President for the meeting and discussed with him issues of their concern.

Head of the Laboratory NIIEPiT, PhD Larisa Akhuba noted that this meeting is very important for young scientists, it's nice to know, that they are remembered at such a high level. "It is very important for us that you have invitedus . I would like to emphasize that the recognition of the country comes through the recognition of its inhabitants. The recognition of the scientific world of Abkhazia has already taken place in fact. We doctorate outside Abkhazia, speak at conferences in countries that have not recognized Abkhazia. Today we are probably last romantics in the country, we have come to ask you not to raise our salaries, but to ask to save our works. We are interested in work, we want to represent our country in the world, and to benefit at the level of direct interaction between science and the state. Thank you for having us, I hope each of us will justify the trust", - Akhuba said.
