Sukhum. 12 January. Apsnypress. President of the Republic of Abkhazia Raul Khajimba held a meeting to assist in preparations for election of President of the Russian Federation in March 2018 on the territory of the Republic of Abkhazia.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Abkhazia Semyon Grigoriev said that in 2018 it was decided to increase the number of polling stations in the territory of Abkhazia from nine to sixteen.
At the same time, Raul Khajimba noted that since the largest number of citizens of the Russian Federation live in Sukhum, it is necessary to increase the number of sites. "We do not want to see people standing in long lines," - President said.
Semyon Grigoriev explained that a limited number of sites is connected with the fact that members of the precinct commission can only become citizens of the Russian Federation permanently residing in the territory of the Russian Federation, which is why there are difficulties in increasing the number of polling stations.
During the meeting, it was decided not to change the total number of polling stations in the republic, adding one more in Sukhum.
