President of Abkhazia Raul Khajimba received the Permanent Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the UN Resident Coordinator Nils Scott.
Sukhum. May 16. Apsnypress. Elena Poluyan. President of Abkhazia Raul Khajimba discussed the possible interaction of the parties at a meeting with the Permanent Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the UN Resident Coordinator Nils Scott.
President of Abkhazia stressed: "There are different ways of solving issues that are important for both the Abkhaz side and those who are directly in touch with their decision. But I would like to see the result".
For his part, Nils Scott cited as an example the story of two people caught in an unequal situation. In this case, one offers help to another in achieving the goal. "I believe that we will always be able to find mutual understanding on all issues that cause any difficulties," - he said.
Nils Scott asked about the development of specific projects: "We have always had an opportunity to discuss how the UN can help the people of Abkhazia, for example, in matters of education or agriculture. Where can we go from here? What projects can we consider now to realize them in the future? "
Raul Khajimba expressed a clear position: "Your help in direction of recognition will be most effective. I speak in general about the possibility of recognizing our country by other states. We do not need just help. Such a process can be endless. It is necessary to build interstate relations. Georgia will have to recognize Abkhazia, and then the development of dialogue will become different. It is not realistic to return to the channel we left".
The head of state said: "We are grateful for the help that the international community gives us, but it must once come to an end. The Russian Federation is also providing significant assistance to Abkhazia, which makes it possible to get back on feet. But there will not always be this help. The state itself needs to build relations with the world, develop its own economic and financial opportunities. Not to give us the opportunity to go beyond the outlined circle - is not the best situation for Abkhazia! "
